Well China's population is about 4 times of that of the US. Their BYD brand is extremely popular and the US very much has a number of states full of petrol heads.

As a percentage of all new car sales, not by count. China is lapping us in EV adoption. If it wasn't for Google's endless pockets they'd be lapping us in autonomous driving too.
