This is probably the most definitive guide on the subject. Rather famous in the procedural generation community


It's a really good approach for procedural maps, but if you want to achieve realism, you'll likely need something like Gaea


Great stuff, I love the detailed explanations. I'm getting more into making my own games in Godot, and may try to implement this with it!

Also, Realm of the mad god is a great game!
