Diary of a Dead North Korean Soldier Reveals Grisly Battlefield Tactics (wsj.com)

That's really sad.

The drones aren't the only robots on the battlefield. I'm not surprised at the extent of the propaganda buy in, it is life or death whether you support publicly the dear leader.

But Jesus. At least the Russian conscripts know what is up. Prisoner shock troops, meat waves, unbridled bombardment, brainwashed mercenaries.

A lot of Internet agents happily excuse Putins conduct in the lens of geopolitical realism, but the fact remains he's an soulless ghoul.

With total mind control AI could ming packaged by silicon valley, authoritarians will have even tighter grips on the world.

With democracy teetering on our side from AI data harvesting and profiling in social networks, I'm very pessimistic about the medium and long term future of the world.

I think we have about 30 years tops before virtually every country is worse than 1984.

I think this is the real danger of AI. It's simply too powerful a tool for centralizing political power and enabling authoritarianism. The more I think about it, it's a done deal, because once it gets imposed by a country, there is no escape. There is no technological counter.

The US has everything, and I mean everything to become lock down controlled at a whim.

I know AI means a lot of “content” on the internet will become trash, but how specifically do you think AI will be used to control people, aside from deepfakes?

I think the internet was great initially for countering this 1984ness, but everyone joining and advocates for censorship have undone that in some ways. People get lost in the distraction of the internet. My hope is that eventually some portion of young people will turn away from social media and organize outside of that space.

By having AI befriend and manipulate individuals. Won't be long before we have 'realness' tests that go beyond things like our ID to ensure we're talking to other humans.

Including the right kind of leader to push it.

Sorry, what did you mean to say here?

Not sure what the autocorrect did there, but basically that the AI tech is being packaged with a bow and a set of turnkeys practically.

To expound, AI can analyze and profile people based on the smoke data collected on them, can identify and track individuals using surveillance state monitoring (us already has the monitoring).

So ai can track your day to day movements, thoughts, actions, spending, whatever. It can learn your gait, track micro expressions, recognize you in disguise. All these have been done. China tracks people individually and assigns a score rating their good communist citizenship

The eye forever watching.

Same diary found on a Ukrainian soldier: "the clever but dangerous tactic devised by the fearless Ukrainian soldiers to beat Russia's drones".

Defending your home and family from a foreign invading army is not usually as difficult to convince people to fight for.

Convincing a teenager to give their life to invade someone elses country for egotistical leaders is a harder sell.

Context is king.
