Sorry, I didn't know that PCB edge connectors were a terrible idea! I saw it on a PCIe slot before and thought it might work.
The other comment from @wtallis has a good point about electromagnetic interference (EMI). But I think it's shielded when it's plugged in, by the female connector.
To be clear: PCBs are acceptable as edge connectors assuming they’re designed for it, but unless you use the proper plating the number of insertions from a normal PCB plating (ENIG) is likely in the low double digits (10-20 times).
