Canada is in the same spot with the postal code data being for sale only.

Relatedly and famously, Canada Post sued [0] geocoder.ca [1] years ago because it made available a crowdsourced database of postal codes...

Years later, the case was settled [2] but yeah. You still have to pay for the "real" data.
