I worked at a shop where most of the devs were SAP contractors.
The whole thing was fishy.
One year I wanted to hire a couple of interns to improve out site for screen readers.
The work boiled down to adding role and aria tags to 100s of elements. Perfect work for some people we could pay $20 an hour for.
What happened instead was my request was denied and the VP made a call to hire 2 SAP contractors for $150 an hour instead.
They were hired and I never heard from them at all. One month later, my team had to do the accessibility work anyway and those 2 contractors stayed on payroll.
Very very fishy stuff. That VP LOVED hiring SAP staff.
The article doesn't say who gets the proceeds of the fine. It's a fairly important piece of information since it is conceivable that the countries that were hurt by the corruption may not see any of it.
