I don’t read it as “calling and assuming anyone older is automatically homophobic and racist”, merely saying those things were considered “common sense” during the Cold War.

I don’t actually know the extent to which each of those things were or weren’t considered common sense in any given year in any given location, so it may be correct or false or even every combination of both, but in any case it is a very different claim.
