I've made a basic conceptual website where you can use your number pad as compass directions to traverse from camp to camp in the Southern Los Padres National Forest.
Growing up I played a MUD called Revenge of the Jedi and my client let you use your number pad keys to move from room to room and I've always thought that would make for an interesting web navigation interface.
I also love hiking and backpacking and it seemed like a fun idea to combine the two things together.
This is a super basic website with minimal information, but I felt like I would share to see if people liked the idea of navigating a website map using a keyboard.
Enjoy and happy to collect any feedback people have of the idea :)
PS this website is not mobile friendly. However, I did try to make it as minimal and fast as possible.
The game had a square 'Town' map which was ~64 or 128 tiles...
With shops on the surface and dungeon entrances strewn about.
The movement was basically all numpad.
We played the games so much that we had each dungeon entrance memorized and didnt even look at the screen.
Felt like a Gaming Stenographer!

EDIT:
I didnt even read your statement, I just went to the site, tried it, and then came here to comment...
HAHA
I totally missed this:
