Ask HN: Anyone interested in API to common phone apps operatable by SMS?

I don't want to carry around a smart phone (for several reasons), but reliance on commons apps has made it difficult to give up.

I've been dreaming of a dumb phone that could provide access to the same apps via SMS similar to a command line interface.

So the user experience would be for e.g. to order Chipotle, you could text:

"chipotle -mode delivery -order favorite1"

Or to get directions, you'd text:

"google-maps -from '111 newage rd 80014' -to 757 thisisgreat ave. 80207"

Now I know this is NOT for everyone. However, I'm curious to know if this resonates with anyone.

Would an open source project that provides an SMS interface to common apps (e.g. Google Maps, Whatsapp, Chipotle, you-name-it) be of interest?

sounds like terminal cli vs. gui app. while typing is inconvenient on phone, worse on "dumb" phone, and not easy to remember the keyword/command syntax... it is doable, could be fun, but ...

Typing depends on skill. And syntax could be solved with menu picker.

Bigger problem is that dumb phone usually has no or broken encryption.

So without going deep into firmware of dumb phone i wouldnt use it.
