Web Notifications / Web Push support on iOS has been very long awaited.
For a lot of websites, building a mobile app that people have to download doesn't make much sense. But they've been basically forced to push users to a mobile app in order to send them real-time notifications (Think package delivery messages or updates on a breaking news story).
This problem is exclusive to iOS. Web Notifications work great on Android, macOS, Windows, and even Chromebook devices. iOS has been the sole holdout for years.
I'm one of the founders of OneSignal and this has been the #1 issue that our customers complain about. It's going to be a huge relief when Apple finally closes this feature gap.
