Ask HN: Who is looking for a co-founder? (July 2021)
138 points by whoisbuilding on July 6, 2021 | hide | past | favorite | 96 comments
Building on the "Who is Hiring?" threads, here comes a monthly thread for folks who are in search of a co-founder. Let people know what you are building and what you are looking for in a co-founder.

Please state the location and include REMOTE if you are open to building a company remotely. When remote work is not an option, include ONSITE.

Please only post if you personally are the founder (or one of the co-founders) of the startup. No recruiting firms, venture builders, or job boards. Only one post per company (how many co-founders can one look for anyway). Please explain on a high level what your company does.

Commenters: please don't reply to these posts telling people why their idea won't work. It's off topic here.

Readers: please only email if you are personally interested in committing yourself to a co-founder role. No "CTO for hire" companies!

Clubs Poker | seeking CTO | Remote (I'm based in NYC)

Ruby on Rails | React | HTML5 Canvas (for the poker table) | Postgres | AWS (Lambda, Kinesis, Athena, SQS, etc.)

Clubs Poker (https://clubspoker.com) makes it dead simple to play poker with your friends for fun. We’re going to make poker look more like a social game (think Fortnite) and less like a casino. Sound interesting?

Clubs is currently hosting around 1,000 poker games/month and avg growth is 100% month over month. We recently closed a round of funding led by Village Global, along with other angel investors and professional poker players.

About me: Former poker player, PM for 10 years, now CEO at Clubs Poker.

To apply, email me at taylor [at] clubspoker.com, mentioning this post in HN & a description of why you think you'd be a good fit. You should have noteworthy full-stack experience under your belt already.

https://angel.co/company/clubs-poker/jobs/1457533-cto-lead-e...

I'm interested in poker and would definitely check out your app, but struggle to grasp the fortnite analogy. Is this related to how they've made social events like gigs possible within the game?

What separates Clubs from just playing with friends over Tabletop Simulator?

I figure that would be your biggest comparison/competition.

Worth mentioning that as of today, YC is also publicly launching a (free) co-founder matching marketplace. (I'm on the team that built it, so would love any feedback on the platform as well!) :)

https://www.startupschool.org/cofounder-matching

This is awesome.

Would love to see it featured in a "Launch" post, and perhaps featured more prominently as a permanent nav link.

IMO things like this bring balance back to HN being a place for thought exchange to spur creation - rather than just another reddit-like "let's react to the latest news URL posted".

We actually do have a "Tell HN" I posted an hour or so again. Looks like it's on the front page now! :)

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=27750298

Glad you appreciate this; I think it's an important problem to solve!

Congratulations on the launch Kyle!

I feel there's need-gap in solutions for finding a co-founder and Hope Co-Founder Matching addresses it.

P.S. I've added it to my curated list of startup tools - https://startuptoolchain.com .

Awesome!

Does the YC Startup School specifically target younger entrepreneurs, or is being 50+ Okay here?

There's nothing in the program or community that's directed towards people of a specific age! We don't collect demographic information, but based on my interactions with the community we definitely have lots of 50+ entrepreneurs on the platform.

Just signed up. If you save your profile without a last name, it turns into null.

Hmm, interesting. Will look into that! In the meantime, I assume if you edit your profile to add something to the last name field, it fixes the issue?

yep it does!

Great! I had a similar idea a while back glad someone is doing it! Will it be open source? mostly curious what tech it is built upon.

Hey there! Thank you so much for the positive feedback!

At the moment it will not be open source, but in the future there will be efforts to open source it. If not open sourcing the code at least open sourcing the learning material for Piano Gym.

Please tell all your friends we really need the exposure!

Love it!

Love you! <3

Please make this a thing on HN.

I'll post this on the first Monday of every month moving forward.

Hello everyone, I am Sumit Datta, a technical founder with many failed attempts. I have experience of working in about 12 startups in 15 years. 2 of them barely made financial success.

I am looking for a co-founder who would ideally be the CEO, who thinks long-term and wants to build solutions to empower people. I am happy to have a chat or call. Timezone IST at the moment. I have a couple ideas (1) but I am open to figuring out other ideas too.

I am interested in Marketplaces, (omni-channel/e) Commerce, Data exploration, No-code, Healthcare. But I place impact over profit and believe that profit comes to great products. Having mental issues, I have been focusing on my work routine since last year. I am open about my mental struggles; am aware of some things that work, but it is still a learning process.

1. Data exploration: https://dwata.com

Email: My full name (written above, no space in between) at that email domain of Google.

Hey Sumit. Would love to have a chat (in general) about India's markets and what you've built in the past.

I'm building a "Team Collaboration" app for SMEs. I run a few small businesses in Kerala, mostly in wholesale and retail. The product I'm building is to address the problems I'm facing as a small business owner.

Will email you.

Swink | Seattle or REMOTE

https://sw.ink

I'm working on better QR codes. I think current QR codes suck because first of all you don't know what they go to by looking at them, so I embed a link preview into my QR codes' patterns.

I'm also working on creating and embedding apps so instead of just scanning a QR code and getting a PDF of the menu, you could order food, chat with wait staff, join a queue, etc. etc.

I need a more sales/marketing oriented cofounder, it isn't my strong suit.

Email -> rob at sw.ink

My partner and I have created the next puzzle phenomena. Similar to the Rubik's cube, but with different mechanics and many more solutions.

We have worked on this project for 5 years, We have developed 3D VR models as well as 3d printed several working prototypes.

We have this product ready- we just need help with Marketing and Sales. Any experience with crowdfunding or manufacturing would also be key.

Also, If anyone is interest in playtesting, please let me know.

Looking for freelancers to start an IT cooperative | EU/REMOTE

The cooperative will have a strong free software focus, equal salaries, and ownership=membership.

The aim is to start with freelancing to reduce risk, and then develop more product-like projects. Let's see if we can make the social side work.

Email in my profile.

so, "think framasoft.org, but more commercial" (w/o implying that that's a bad thing)?

That's not far off, at least based on the English descriptions of Framasoft.

With self-governance included in the package, it's not imposible to turn into another Framasoft in the long term.

What skill-sets are you looking for?

Write.as - Remote (I'm based in Florida) - Seeking marketer / business developer

Write.as is a simple, privacy-friendly blogging platform made for writers. It's focused on doing just one thing well: helping you get your words published on the open web. It's powered by open source software called WriteFreely, and is part of a suite of interconnected publishing tools that I'm building: Snap.as for photos, Submit.as for submission management, Draft.as for collaboration, and so on.

As a company, we're entirely bootstrapped and founder-owned, and after 6 years, very modestly profitable. But in many ways, we're still very early. Our customers are writers, bloggers, teachers, and authors, plus some companies, publications, and public libraries. There's no "exit" or fundraising potential in sight; just a small, sustainable company I hope to continue running for many decades.

I put most of my focus on building product and supporting current customers, to the detriment of us growing quicker. But there is plenty of room to grow, and I'm looking for someone who can join in a cofounder-like capacity to help move the needle in a way that matches our calm pace and principles [0]. If you're interested, I'd love to hear from you: matt {at} write.as

ONSITE - Location TBD

I'm a solo founder and am interviewing next week in the final stage of a somewhat well-known tech incubator.

The open source framework / SaaS I'm developing is called Fastmap https://fastmap.io. The one-liner is: "Fastmap offloads and parallelizes arbitrary Python functions on the cloud" but I'm also considering the more colloquial, "Fastmap is a server in your pocket". My short term strategy is to market to data scientists. My long term strategy is to offer a smarter way to do backend infrastructure.

As far as skill set, I am looking for someone with a deep level of expertise in distributed systems and/or data engineering. I would also be open to a non-technical co-founder with business experience in SaaS.

Building a co-founder relationship at a late stage is inherently tricky. For what it's worth, I believe that relationships work best when they are equitable and that 95% of the work of Fastmap is in the future.

Interested? Email me! Let's see if we can find a way to test whether we click: [email protected]

Interesting product - have felt an acute need for something similar while writing machine learning preprocessing pipelines without having to spin up a dask or pyspark cluster.

How are you dealing with data streaming latency here? For most of the things I've worked on the compute needs grow O(n) or O(n^2) with the dataset size. Farming out the compute to a remote server might solve the CPU bottlenecks but at the expense of having to pay the network transfer overhead. For the speed of most pipelines I'm not sure that's a viable tradeoff.

Hey, a couple of thoughts:

I think you identified the tradeoff correctly. What I'm building is designed for when compute needs outweigh the data transfer overhead. This works for some applications and not others. In particular, I think my approach will work especially well for ML model training and web scrapers.

That being said, the fewer bytes transferred the better. Apart from colocating servers, there's not much I can do for the data. No matter what, it has to go over an ethernet cable. It's possible to cache source code though and is something I'm working on doing over multiple layers.

In your example, for preprocessing pipelines, Fastmap probably wouldn't make sense - or at least that's my instinct. In my experience, it's rare to see pipeline steps where the compute significantly outweighs the data transfer. I'd be curious to hear your problem though. I might have a blind spot?

Makes sense.

A lot of my work involves parsing crawled pages, ie. html -> structured dom tree -> some heuristic search or other algorithm to tag or extract elements. So in this case the compute per page is relatively high but I still think the overall latency of having to sync to a remote endpoint is too heavy.

One hybrid approach would be some hosted data product that is colocated with your compute cluster. On nonsensitive datasets I'd be happy to upload my initial data upfront if it means I can get linear scalability when I need to run compute.

Ah. I think I understand a little better. Knowing nothing else about what you're doing, the way I would structure that would be to run multiple fastmap tasks with crawler + processor code and then pull down just the processed data. So basically, have fastmap as the most upstream node.

Whether or not that's possible with the realities of your application is another question of course :).

If you're curious, I'd be happy to provide some compute time (say 100 vCPU-hours) in exchange for feedback. Email me if that's at all interesting.

CEO Cofounder - EdTech Nonprofit - Berlin (REMOTE possible)

The idea: Improve the way people learn by building an open learning map, leveraging crowdsourcing and graph database technologies. Think Google Maps x Wikipedia for learning. It would allow users to navigate knowledge in a seamless and rewarding way, by tailoring the best online content based on what you know, how you learn best, what you want to learn.

State of the project: I’ve been setting up the tech and working on an MVP, which will soon be ready to launch. The next step is to grow the userbase, build a community around the platform and apply for funding. That’s where you come in. Desired profile: Looking for a driven and ambitious CEO with strong communication skills. Aside from the traditional responsibilities of a CEO, this project also requires a fair share of online community management and brand building.

About me: I have a background in applied mathematics, software engineering and graph theory, and I’ve worked in Berlin startups for the past 4 years.

Feel free to share with people you think would fit this profile :). Here’s my email: [email protected]

I've been building a personal search engine in Flask/Python using Solr @ https://mitta.us/. Mitta runs on Google Cloud instances + AppEngine. The system uses a plugin and a headless Firefox + an image ML pipeline to extract meta data and text from pages to provide full text and object search. The system is currently command line driven from a web UI. Documentation for the backend system is at https://mitta.us/apiv1

Mitta provides methods to crawl, index, tag, filter and search various information over time.

My thoughts are that I will continue to work on this over the coming months to explore a few use cases for managing imagery for ML based business models, including analysis for time series data and bookmarking, such as we did at Loggly with system logs.

A versatile product oriented cofounder who codes would be useful in taking this proof of concept to market.

Visual chat | CTO

Unusual opinion alert: We think the future of chat starts with a better GIF camera. What we’ve built so far is basically like GIPHY or TENOR but all the GIFs are you and your friends. Not to flex, but it’s really fun to use. Just wrapped building the beta.

When you’re close with a group of people, you mimic each other: use similar words, slang, gestures, opinions. What we’re trying to do is build shared visual language. Instead of sending a emoji, send a GIF of yourself or a friend doing a party dance. Instead of sending a gif of Shaq doing a shimmy dance, make your own. Instagram filters made everyday people feel like their photos were good enough to share. We’ll make people feel like their gifs are expressive enough to share. You have to try it. It feels nonobvious until you try it. It’s not quite there yet but we’re not far off.

I’m a product designer…. Up until two weeks ago I freelanced designing the first versions of things for YC teams. (Warmly S20, Virtually S20, Zaam W20, Zippi S19). In prior lives built stuff for Intel, Intuit and Intercom.

I’m working with a crazy talented engineer (built Safari for the original iPhone launch) doing it for the cause but he has a family and won’t want to do this for more than a few months.

From a technology perspective we’re doing a lot of stuff with images and video, plus generalist “let’s move fast and learn” things. Over time we’ll invest in letting people deepfake themselves to make gifs and memes based on what is trending in their interest graph and the people we’re talking to.

This is gonna be a slog. We’re going to have to do the best work of our careers to have a shadow of a chance. This is a big bet. If we do it right, we have a chance to build the way everyone talks to each other.

Email me! I’m weird, often in useful ways. What the hell: maybe we’ll change the world.

[email protected]

This is really interesting. Will it be an entire platform or more integration focused? Anyway one can sign up for updates?

I'm technically sound but not technical enough. We are looking for a Deep-Tech Co-Founder, who have experience in Computer Vision, experimented with CNN and/or Transformers. We have quite a bit chunk of equity (double digit) on the table and currently fund-raising our first round. Additional experiences with GIS, GeoSpatial data, etc would be brilliant.

We, at Valinor Earth, are building climate intelligence tools and data for profit and sustainability. Our current focus is Food - production, its transportation, and consumption.

My co-founder is super connected and we are land-grabbing really fast but yet to be revenue positive.

My official email is [email protected] and we are geographies agnostic team.

On a different note, Y Combinator has a Co-Founder matching[1] platform on its StartupSchool. Pretty interesting people there.

Remote (I’m in Johannesburg, South Africa) I'm looking for a technical co-founder to join me disrupting the legal research and publishing industry. I am a lawyer now working as a senior product manager at one of the large players in this industry.

The industry has copied its print business models and simply put it content online. The UX, editorial operations, pricing models, all stuck in the past. For example, the choice of content is chosen at firm level and all lawyers have exactly same set of content. There is no content ratings and review systems in the software so publishers are missing an easy and cheap way to get valuable data which would aid in optimising content.

The solution I've specced caters for curating crowd-sourced content from practitioners (and providing them leads and publicity via their content in return).

Unless I missed something, you've not left contact info anywhere. Would love to chat about legal tech!

My bad please get in touch at [email protected]

(This is my secondary mail as I don’t want to share my personal one on public thread)

Arbeitnow | Berlin / Germany / Remote

Hi! I'm Adithya from Berlin. I've been building a job board for half a year and it's doing decently. I'm looking for a co-founder on the marketing and sales side.

It would be great if you're based in Berlin/Germany but remote is also good.

I've come up with several useful sections like hiring without whiteboard (1), four day weeks (2) etc. that has decent organic traffic.

Post mentions no job boards, hopefully that's only applicable to advertisements and not in this case.

Email is on the imprint on the website.

Hi, I’m Dan.

I’m a product manager that is sick of operations & other PMs asking me to write simple SQL queries or create tableau dashboards.

I’ve seen many friends/colleagues that say they want to learn SQL, but never do.

Yet, companies are looking for talent in all departments to learn these skills for decision making.

Rather than having non-technical people try to learn SQL and tableau, I’m exploring a product that translates human text into simple sql queries to enable data analysis for everyone without needing to learn SQL.

“How many [column name] did we have on [Date]”

This isn’t easy, but if done successfully will be extremely valuable.

I’m primarily looking for a data scientist with NLP experience, ideally around semantic search. However, I’m willing to chat with everyone who wants to!

Respond to this comment and/or Email me: wigrizer[at]gmail.com

Hi Dan,

If you have a moment check out our demo of this functionality here - https://www.modlr.co/au/demo/ad-hoc-reporting-demo

We've developed a reporting and business modelling platform which has a unique data model which allows for natural language queries of all the dimensions (equivalent to columns) of a dataset.

Here is our website for more information - https://www.modlr.co

Kind Regards, Ben

Hey Ben - Will give this a look. Sounds interesting. Thanks for sending.

Hi Dan, I'm Jesse. I work in the public sector and have seen the pains of trying to get regular folk to learn even basic SOQL for Salesforce, let alone the struggles of folks trying to change the way they think to write a SQL query.

I believe there's a huge market for bridging the power of a structured query language with non-"techy" folks, much like how we see no-code solutions popular among folks who would have (self-admittedly) never been able to figure out how to wire up two RESTful APIs.

My approach to solving this in the past was to create a custom syntax with a transpiler that took a type of English language grammar and converted it into workable SQL. Where I branched from your intention was actually for my book on data science in higher education -- I wanted to have a language where a researcher could say something like this:

"Who is more likely to drop: a student with circumstance_a or a student with circumstance_b?"

That's a rough approximation, but I think you can see what I am talking about.

Are you looking at the text-to-speech space for people to babble at their computers? Or are you looking for some kind of GUI system where people can plug things together? Or are you looking for a grammar (like my approach)? Would love to chat.

Hi Jesse - It sounds as though we are aligned with the existing problem, and the approach. Very interested to talk more. Mind shooting me an email? (My email is listed above in the parent comment)

REMOTE, Global (or Montreal, Canada)

I'm a technical guy, founder of Status Machine (https://statusmachine.com/), a pre-seed, pre-traction company that's building a dashboard (see the website for an example) for companies that manage many websites and need to see an overview of their status. Status = up or not, secure or not, etc.

I plan to integrate with as many tools as possible via webhooks and APIs.

I'm not sure what type of co-founder that I need. So feel free to get in touch, even if you are not sure either what you could bring to the company.

Email: julien @ the domain cited above.

REMOTE | GLOBAL (or London, UK)

I've created a Transactional Email provider (competitor to mailgun, postmark, SES etc.) https://ohmysmtp.com

We have some traction, with a growing customer base.

I'm looking for someone to help keep development moving at pace (specifically Rails, node.js/typescript + our OSS language integrations e.g. PHP, Python, Go), help with scaling out our servers, and drive more Developer-oriented marketing.

Email the support directly or reply here and I'll pick it up.

REMOTE GLOBAL | Barcelona, Spain

I'm building a Virtual Tabletop for RPGs: https://bonfiretabletop.com

I have a decent MVP online with a few active users, slowly getting out of the dark when it comes to awareness, primarily looking for someone with sales/marketing skills, social media/brand awareness, technical skills are also welcome. I'm an okay developer and improving (this project taught me a lot).

Optimizing for Mutual Physical Attraction (OMPA) Saint Louis | CEO | REMOTE

OMPA is currently a PyTorch model that predicts if you’ll find a face attractive or not. It requires about 10 minutes of work from a user to gather enough data to train an accurate model specific to that user. It involves ranking 7 faces from most attractive to least attractive.

I have a working model that is good enough to be used as an auto-swiper, but my goal is more ambitious: solving the “stable marriage problem” and fixing digital dating’s well-understood problem: the most attractive users capture almost all the matches, leaving normal people like myself with less interest than we’d receive offline.

Also, we need to Optimize for Mutual Emotional Attraction. But one hard problem at a time! :)

To do this I need an equal partner who is great at “Product” — i.e., using an innovative technology like OMPA to create a product that people will actually find value in.

OMPA isn’t a product yet. It’s just a tool. The question is whether that tool enables the creation of a product capable of fixing digital matchmaking. I believe it can, but know myself well enough to know that without a brilliant CEO guiding it, OMPA will remain just a cool toy I tinker on.

I’d love to schedule a demo of anyone who is interested: [email protected]

Scribie | REMOTE

I am the solo founder of Scribie, an AI powered audio/video transcription service. Scribie originated as kind of a rebound project after my first venture failed. I just decided to put my head down and focus on building the product this time around. It worked and the business started growing. Scribie consumed my life for next couple of years and I was working 80+ hours per week doing everything from business development to writing code. I loved programming and I was having a blast. However, I made the bad mistake of falling in love with my product. It was my baby and I never allowed it to grow up. I have now fallen out of love. So after 13 years, here I am looking for a co-founder!

We are in a fast growing market and we have a good product (we did 1M in revenue in 2020 with zero sales/marketing). I think this is the right time to pivot to a traditional SaaS product. Given that others are at 100M ARR mark with similar products, we can definitely do much much more. I'm just looking for the right guy to execute this pivot.

I can be reached at rajiv at scribie dot com. Learn more about me at https://archive.is/CbCsi.

Hi, I'm Tom.

I'm based in the UK (Oxford). I'm open to a remote co-founder but I'd prefer someone in the UK so we'd be able to meet in person and get to know each other.

I've got a mixed background, I used to work in finance (did the CFA etc) but have worked as an engineer in the data space since 2016. I got to know the data industry and the analytical challenges that finance and marketing teams face really well, and now I want to solve some of the (many) problems I've encountered.

I have spent the last couple of months talking to as many businesses as I can. The goal has been to learn about how others are working and whether they have experienced the same problems as me. I am now quite confident in a few of my market hypotheses and I think I've got a promising direction to take an MVP in.

I've also been looking for a co-founder! I'm interested to meet anyone who is highly motivated, and who has expertise in the industry - either as an engineer or as a PM or in sales. Ideally you'll know what it's like to work for an early stage business, and you need to be willing to commit full time (for the right idea of course!). I will be putting _all_ of my time into this and I need to find someone who is willing to do the same. I think that there is a big opportunity to be had in the B2B data space over the coming decade, and there are loads of great businesses to be built.

If you're interested in setting up a call to get to know each other and see if there's a fit you can reach me at thomas dot d dot firth at gmail dot com.

Cheers!

Tom

Looking for a co founder to make a open world game with complex and extensive use of procedural generation techniques.

Zoned game servers, generation of building interiors and cities, perlin noise with layers, erosion, etc. I was inspired by outerra and others, but outerra is not planning to make a game so I want to do it. I have demos to show my progress.

I'm based in France, but I'm fluent in English and C++.

https://www.temin.co.uk/ | Seeking Co-Founder | London, UK / Remote

What Temin is: Create whiteboards, sticky notes and virtual displays in a multiplayer 2D + 3D virtual environment that acts like a version controlled graph database.

I built Temin out of frustration when I was trying to get a Big Idea about the future of computing out of my head and ran out of wall space. With that in mind, it would be good to find a co-founder that shares my vision of the future/the utility Temin/what it could become.

What I want to do: have/implement ideas, talk to stakeholders, lead people.

What I want in a co-founder: someone to compliment the above as much as possible, and is willing to help pick up whatever slack is left over. Understand how to give a startup the best chance of success? How to sell/market something? What I should actually be looking for and don't realise it? Contact me.

REMOTE

Dev looking for marketing co-founder in edTech.

Devs don't teach programming in schools, because of small salary and loads of stress. Students don't seek programming, because it seems hard and boring.

Tinkr is bringing programming to schools. We offer any school teacher (physics for example) an opportunity to teach programming in their school. Training, materials, live coding environment, lessons and a professional coder helping in the background - everything a teacher needs to teach the class.

Tinkr also makes coding awesome by letting students write real-world webapps like websites, chat and multiplayer games that they can share to friends (they actually work, with database and everything).

I'm based in Estonia, looking for people that want to scale to the world, primarily missing a marketing person, but also designers, sales and wouldn't say no to dev help either.

First full-length course has been done and paid for. Students were thrilled.

Looking for for a co-founder that can help create a business around the concept, ideally with marketing/branding/social media chops | REMOTE / GLOBAL (I’m currently in Denmark).

I’m building a product to replace Google Photos/Drive/Contacts for people who won’t/can’t store their data in the cloud. Self-hosting is currently a pain with poor UX and more worries about security and backups than most people want to deal with. Hey there,

We're rating data sets by their markets' performance. We're building the S&P 500 for data. Our website is https://rugpullindex.com. We're looking for someone that's interested in what we're doing. Ideally you're technical and you have no problem taking on responsibility.

We're grants-sponsored and we're not looking for VC money. I'd prefer if we bootstrapped. The job is remote and on a freelance basis.

I don't think we'd be offering any role or "co-founder" titles. Also, there won't be a classical salary. But since our project is quite young, I guess you can call yourself a co-founder.

EU/REMOTE

Looking for co-founder(s) in area ASIC Design/Verification/Tooling/Services, preferrably with good market understanding. I've have a chunk of experience in the industry both as designer & verificator and was trying to throw multiple ideas to start something own in that industry, but nothing sticks so far. Have deep understanding of VPI, how simulators and backend (synthesis and STA) work, so tooling may also be an option. Would also opt for a full turnkey SoC, if a good market niche is found.

I'm looking for a co-founder with elixir and strong front-end experience or product and sales experience. Technical preference for now. If you like mycology and working with Neo4J feel free to drop a line!

The product I've been working on is intended for the pharma space and somewhat similar to Benchling but targeting a very specific agricultural niche. I've yet to start looking for institutional investment, but now that covid is over I have the bandwidth and drive to take this product full-time!

please email hydrated chia AT gmail DOT com

I've been trying to get into mycology as a hobby. I think it's awesome that you're working in this space. I did want to say, however, that covid is not over. I'm not sure who told you that but they're wrong.

> but now that covid is over I have the bandwidth and drive to take this product full-time!

Saying that Covid is over is such a slap in the face to all those people still dying from it in countries that don't have the resources or access to vaccines like some countries do.

Covid isn't over and saying it is reflects really poorly on you. It makes it look like you live in a very small bubble.

It’s a phrase/idiom that has become widely used IRL. I hate how everything is taken literally online, it’s clearly an figure of speech about large scale economic re-openings

Again, it depends where you are. It is certainly not "widely used IRL" anywhere near me right now.

test

This won't work. Who's hiring could attract a sufficient number of responses that makes selection viable, but this won't. Besides, unlike a work contract, co-founder responsibilities have no defined boundaries or obligations and it'll take a while to get a measure of someone's (including the poster's) commitment and interest.

I have been seeking co-founder for a couple months, a bit actively. Passively, for about a year now. I think you underestimate how big a pain this is. HN is a great place for people in the concerned bucket to give a shout out.

I totally get how big a pain it is; I'm just saying you won't find them via these posts. Founders often over estimate how interesting their idea could be to potential co-founders; but people are more interested in working on their own ideas.

not sure. I had many ideas in the past which I felt were the best thing since tabbed bread.

but in the last 2-3 years I find myself a different head-space. I no longer need the validation for my own ego to have others work on "my idea".

Instead I am passively keeping my eyes peeled for potential products that are run by people I have chemistry with, and where I can bring value, maybe even for free (initially). Great if it turns into more down the road.

And some feeling tells me I probably am not the first person who reaches that point/conclusion in life. HN would be exactly the place for it considering angel sites are full of marketers and people with short attention spans, and/or perhaps worse.

the only sure way to make this fail is to not try it. the worst case is that noone here gets any response. with nothing to loose, why not try it.

at a minimum it shows everyone who is posting here, how many other people are searching. and maybe some good comes from that too.

Why don't we let the people and the market decide?

Either way it is interesting to see what people are building.

I think just let people make their own choices
