4chan founder Chris Poole (“Moot”) has left Google (cnbc.com)

I wish him all the best. 4channers are obsessive and wouldn't hesitate to ruin his life or doxx him years after he left. I recall how careful he had to be when we was admin, even having people doxx his mother, following him home from the subway etc. I think it reflects really well on his character how he managed to leave that stuff behind. Sometimes I wonder if there was some sort of government entity setting him up for a new life in return for handing over the keys.

He certainly has it in him for another startup, his name alone could still generate hype (or attacks) on anything he creates. YC should keep their ears peeled.

I hope one day he agrees to a lengthy in-depth interview or documentary.

He used to have a blog that is empty now that was called Chris hates writing.

chrishateswriting.com

Do you know him in person? He doesn't seem to have much online present which is understandable.

Obviously I can't say for sure, but I doubt that poster knows him in person, or would admit it if he did.

moot has written and spoken extensively about the important of anonymity online and maintaining separate identities for different purposes. He's an extremely private person and has outright said he doesn't want people from the internet knowing who his friends and family are. I'm assuming this is something he would tell his friends and family as well...

Moot worked at Google!? Thought he was radioactive because of 4chan

He's flying under the radar appearantly. People have been cancelled for far less controversial things than creating and running 4chan for over a decade.

He does come off as having changed since his 4chan days though.
