The highlights of the essay were:
- The writer argues that no innovation other than polio vaccine was adopted instantly. There were always naysayers and people who loved old ways of doing things, who would look down upon the innovation
- There was example of TV vs radio in 1927. Radio jockeys (or radio show hosts) mocked TV by saying that who has the time to watch something while you cant do anything when some show is on (paraphrasing). Atleast on radio, you can do other things while listening to radio
- The author shows numerous examples to demonstrate the same, saying progress happens slowly because there is a group which opposes it as it makes things too easy. (he showed how the older generation thinks the current generation is lazy and not as hard working as before.)
