I just tried it on my iphone and I don't see this behavior. I have this option of "pre-load top hit" disabled. I understand not a lot of users will have this disabled and is probably what is causing this issue. Therefore, this is more of an issue with the aggressive suggestions engine for websites that a testament to how poor Safari as a browser is (which is what many comments here seem to suggest).
