Ask HN: Have you been using a personal electric vehicle during lockdown?

I recently bit the bullet and purchased a solowheel glide 3 "electric unicycle". Essentially a battery and motor controller built around a large hub motor with pedals on either side.

I've used electric scooters (actually built one) and eBikes in the past but wanted to branch the learning curve to use these devices since they're more space and energy efficient than an eBike and arguable safer than an electric scooter given a larger wheel / real tire.

It's been a joy to learn something in the physical world again (not in headspace) and it's been a godsend during the lockdown. Previously I was just planning on using it to commute - as I'm still a major noob and cannot carry heavy loads in my hands while riding. I also live in NYC so empty roads and bike lanes are abundant (I hate shared bike lanes though given how bad most people seem to be at riding a bike in a predictable straight line).

Covid 19 has without a doubt changed the way many think about urban personal transport, sans subways, busses and especially Uber / ride-sharing. For context, my uncle who runs a handful of bike shops in Arizona has been completely sold out 5 weeks straight.

Have any other people, even those outside of city centers with bike infrastructure been using personal electric vehicles (PEV's) during the lockdown?
