Ask HN: Why is Windows 10 so user-hostile?

I don't want to sound like someone, who feels "superior" for using Linux, but recently I was forced to get in touch with my Windows 10 again after some time, and I'm outraged. I knew it was getting more and more hand-holding over the years, but now it has got to the point, when it actively fights you whenever you try to change any non-default settings and it often makes major changes without even asking permission from you. Recently I installed an update and some of my default apps were changed to "Recommended value". I was only informed about this after it has been done.

Does anyone knows how Microsoft justifies this kind of policy? I know they probably want to make it accessible for everyone, but this is just ridiculous. I am not skilled sys admin by any means, but I'd still prefer some "hey, i can read and I know what I'm clicking on most of the time, so please stay out of my way, until I ask you for assistance, thanks" switch in the settings. Is there a chance of this to happen?
