Basically true if you add "to paying customers", there's no obligation to publish it otherwise. You can even sell your GPL software on DVD if you like.

We tried Mattermost, Discourse and countless other, none were close in simplicity and features of Zulip. It's one of the best, underrated projects for that suits smaller teams.

I haven't tried it but meeting functionality for smaller groups would be good, specially for different kinds of hobby meetups.
