I’m sorry but can you elaborate on how Allbirds fit in here? Thats just seems like a random reference that I do not understand.

Allbirds was a shoe company which was failing due to poor management but saw their stock spike when they said they were pivoting to AI.

This felt a lot like the various companies which got a lot of attention for taking an existing business concept, adding “on the internet”, and cratering when it became obvious they lacked a viable business.

Allbirds recently decided to pivot to AI. Yes, the shoe company.

Blade sharpness is a huge factor in performance but thats still just 50% of tool prep; once you start working you also need to maintains correct pressure, tool much and tour shaving will be to thick, too little and you atop cutting.

10 microns is about the size of cells that make up wood shaving. And those traditional hand planners used in this competition existed for couple thousand years now with very few changes(most recent on being the chip breaker brought to japan about 200 years ago). I might be repeating stuff for the article but I read this one long ago so no longer sure if it includes this. Lol

I have taken up woodworking last year(so I am a super beginner), and in summary it nourishes my mind and soul in ways that tech world keeps failing to. Instead of getting instant gratification of buying things on Amazon, I spend weeks to build one item, and that item brings me unparalleled satisfaction, trains my patience, concentration, and unlike coding which does check some of above boxes it pulls me away from my computer which is responsible for half a dozen of my bad habits. In a way it takes me back to era before content overload, consumerism, and capitalism.

I know that this very vague but there is a lot that is coursing through my head as I’m reading your question. I am happy to answer any more specific questions. I also took up couple (black)smithing projects and they are very satisfying as well, just harder to start with.
