I don't know what kind of custom drawing you are referring to.. the web can work with 2d and 3d drawing and animations just fine. For example, an entire first person 3d game built using WebGL - http://www.littleworkshop.fr/keepout.html.

I read this a few years ago in university, Carleton University Bachelor of Commerce Information Systems Concentration. One of my favorite course material readings that I 'had to read'. I would recommend it to anyone who works in the IT world and especially to any new CIOs out there.
