Hi there! Do you send over confirmation/rejection emails? Because I sent my resume/portfolio for the Designer position but didn't receive anything, confirmation of receipt or rejection. Thanks!

I already get 6.5% from HeyBanco. Actually, they already increased it to 7.25%, and keep in mind these CDs expire every 7 days so the money is quite liquid. How are you any different?

What is the name of the cold calling service, for research purposes.

This Lifehacker article mentions several: https://lifehacker.com/how-to-contact-executive-customer-ser...

As a designer, I'm ashamed of reading this. This is the opposite of what designers are supposed to do. UI is not art, you can't just do whatever you want. You need to abide by user patterns and conventions, because our job is to get people from A to B in the most efficient way possible. Period. Your designer is just bad.

But "designers" are surely understood to be engineers. This problem exists because the company creates positions for designers. If positions were created for usability engineers, we'd get a completely different outcome. (I wish repeating this over and over on social media would cause it to happen.)

Designers != Artists Designers are supposed to create things that humans can relate to and use, the end-user should always be in mind. They do not just churn out art for its own sake and damn the beholder. So I don’t see the distinction here.

> They do not just churn out art for its own sake and damn the beholder.

But that's the point of this article. As a matter of empirical fact, they do. Visual appearance/attractiveness has dominated over usability since smart phones became our ordinary means of interaction.

(NB. artists never "churn out art for its own sake". They usually want to do something with that art. But to the extent that we allow usability to compete with visual appearance, it can be called "churning out art for its own sake".)

Unfortunately, our UX engineers are on the front-end team. And anyone working with React is just a code monkey, so if they suggest anything related to their area of expertise they cannot possibly be right.

Have you tried Roam Research? https://roamresearch.com/

The comment you're replying to says:

> but I feel desperately uncomfortable tying my notes to a piece of proprietary software.

I would love a consumer-ready version of this!

This is amazing, I've been thinking of doing the same for my area. I've always wondered about the ping tho. Right now I have 4ms with my current provider which uses a wired connection. Whats the usual ping using radio? (from a client perspective)

The radio will generally add 2-3ms latency I believe. Plus any routing latency at the customer's router, and any latency in your own infrastructure. If one is comparing to satellite or LTE, then this is basically amazing. If you're comparing to existing copper/fibre connection then it will have some effect.

I'm saying this having not actually deployed the hardware yet, just based on research.

Depends on radio and network. Right now, I'm on wifi (so it goes wifi -> router -> ISP radio -> ISP fiber) and have 2.5ms ping to one of the bigger DC in my city, so I guess it can be pretty good ;)

Can you make the chat to the right and stream to the left? Pretty hard to chat when I have to scroll up/down constantly.

So much this. Honestly, there is a condescending tone in the parent comment, it's the usual "Do you feel depressed? How about we go to the movies? You'll feel better!" type of advice. My brain can't produce the appropriate neurochemicals that yours (parent comment) can, so in the past I've had the need to use antidepressants to supplement my brain.

Lots of people don't understand this.

Regarding exercise during IF, does it have a negative effect on your performance if you don't eat some carbs BEFORE exercise? How do you prevent the body from eating itself up for energy during exercise?

Pretty much no impact. I’ve done 18 mile runs after not eating for 36 hours and without consuming calories during the run. I feel tired but no more than usual. Also weight train fasted, no issues with performance.

The goal kind of is for the body to eat itself...eating body fat.

As for maintaining muscle mass, it seems as if keeping protein intake high while lifting heavy weights does the trick.
