They were testing FSD so I understand why they would do it. It also looked like roadkill and didn't expect it to be a hard obstacle.

You are correct that they were testing the system, so they probably waited too long to react. But Tesla’s car didn’t do well in this incident

A competent human driver would instinctively slow down, look at the potential obstruction, and think about changing lanes or an emergency stop.

Most probably, the visible object is just some water spilled on the road or that kind of thing. But if it isn’t then it’s very dangerous

This car appeared to be blind to any risk. That’s not acceptable

Heh, just yesterday I drove past some roadkill and wondered what a self-driving car would make of that. Then I started wondering how it would handle deer crossing the road 50 years ahead, or running alongside the vehicle as they sometimes do when they get spooked. Or how it would handle the way people drive down the center of gravel roads until they meet someone, and then move over.

At 56, I don't expect to see it on country roads in my lifetime, but maybe someday they'll get there.

> They were testing FSD

So if that was a human and they ran them over it'd be okay because they were testing FSD?

They're putting themselves (fine) and everyone around them (far less fine) in danger with this stunt.

If he used real numbers the tariffs would be so low that it wouldn't make any sense.

Apparently it is 34% on top of current 20%, bringing it to a total of 54%.

But who knows with these guys.

Current tariffs for China are 45% because the original 25% tariffs from Trump I never went away and the 20% from Trump II are in addition. Source: have two containers en route from China at the moment, will be paying 45% on them.

Fully agreed. Tariffs are one thing that Trump has always been clear about. He likes them, he sees them as beneficial and now that he has no brakes in this administration he is finally going to try and put them in place.

There is no 4D chess.

I mean it's also clear he doesn't understand them. The poster he posed with today has a column labelled "tarrifs charged to the USA".

The main feature of them was he discovered in his first term he could do them unilaterally without Congress, and his audience would just go along with it anyway.

It's a big stick to point toward Iran.

Flying from Diego Garcia means they can takeoff without anyone reporting them inbound.

They better not.

The biggest they have is the GBU-57A/B [1] and that will work until 60 meters reinforced concrete. Iran has the facilities under more than 80 to 100 meters and its granite.

Even an upgraded GBU-57A/B that it seems exist, wont be good enough.

Breaker, Breaker, Shaker-Maker!

Two of them, behind each other, are Jack Hammers mother.

Take four, and what's left is flour.

Oink Oink.

It wont work. I thought about that option.. I hope they suspend the operation, if that is what they are thinking about....

I mean hey, while we're violating international norms...

> The biggest conventional munition they have

And number of dinosaurs found compared to number of individual dinosaurs that ever lived is staggeringly low.

Companies have staging and test process but CS bypassed it and deployed to prod.

I really liked the bit about first rule of government spending.

Strange no one commented but apparently Bradley Cooper (of all people) is working on making it. https://movieweb.com/bradley-cooper-hyperion-movie-epic/

No definite timeline on it.

The way I thought about it, you have to roll around the larger one and you have to roll around yourself (+1). So if they are two same size circles, it's 1 for the other and 1 for yourself. If the other one has 3 times bigger radius, it is 3 for the bigger one and 1 for yourself. Etc.

Not sure if it is mathematically accurate but it seemed to make sense to me.
