I mean, I can tell you why. It's not feasible if it costs too much. If it makes sense (i.e. the land is worth X and cost of a wall is some fraction of X that people can afford) people will do it.
it does show up. Just like star wars, the toys and figurines and sometimes it even spread into the VAs, authors and other artists adjacent to the projects.
The more underlying question is "why does the production company care so little about the quality of the overseas version of their product?" Is it just that it's a small fraction of the JP-native revenue, or is there something else going on?
The usual thing in that case would be that crunchyroll asks the production company for money to fund all the marketing it's doing on their behalf.
In fact, the traditional model of television is that you give the show away for free and hope to make money on popularity.
If you produce music, there are multiple companies right now who sell the service of "we will upload your music to every streaming platform, so that anyone who wants to listen to it for free can do that".
Nope.. maybe. Valve now requires anti cheat to be present on the store page. Highlighted in yellow along with EULAs and 3rd party login.
Apex Legends did not have kernel level anti cheat even though recently they block linux/steamdeck users. Marvel Rivals[1] does not. A store page of game with kernel level anti cheat would be Delta Force[2].
Then again, I'm not sure how true this is since I'm pretty sure its the devs responsibility. GTA5 apparently added anti cheat[3] but their store page didn't indicate any.
I dont understand why meta didnt pair up with vrchat/gamedev/game engine dev at the time. Sure they got John Carmack, but their presentation is so much worse. Its so hard not to draw comparison with the other half baked crypto metaverse.
Meanwhile Vive Index not only have Alyx but they even bring out Portal themed toybox to showcase the hardware.
Its mature and battle tested at this point. At least for 2D web games. The original/early version of Vampire Survivors is in Phaser if I'm not mistaken. Remade in Unity to make console port easier.
I wished they hire the Arkane team that got laid off. Put them to work on a new single player ip and let Victor Antonov add some of his design into it.
They dont have to do anything new, just make it good enough, like Titanfall 2.
> I believe they also said they don't want to do more of the same
I've heard this too, with Half Life they want each game to be groundbreaking. Arkane have done great games, but they're not all groundbreaking, and arguably none of them are to the level that HL1/2 were.
That's why they should hire someone else to do the leg work (That's what they used to do anyway). There isn't exactly a lot of unique things in Portal 2 compared to the original but the sheer polish and testing Valve applied to their games (when they want to) is still unmatched.
Portal 2 added co-op as the big gameplay change vs. 1.
But Gabe has said Half-Life specifically is what they consider their ground breaking series now. So there won't be a 3 until they can push a boundary again like the first 2 did.
From all the leaks, it sounds like the big change for HL3 is currently advanced materials – destruction, traction, behaviour, conductivity, etc. This would make sense as it plays into the material work in Portal 2 and the deformation work in HL2:EP2-3, as well as the physics puzzles in HL3. Additionally it sounds like gravity may be a core feature of the game.
This is all speculation based on code leaks, and it's possible this is all true and they still don't release anything because the project stalls. Supposedly the game has moved into the later stages of development, but I'm not fully convinced by that part of the leaks.
I used to think so but my current android has terrible heat management. Maybe bad battery or I may have doomscrolling for too long. The battery got bloated without me noticing it.
Paper's Please as well. Blows my mind that what look like a mundane puzzle game can evoke such a strong feelings in me. And that was the beta build of the game, barely any storyline just from the mechanics and design alone.
Not in an emergency scenario but more like "it doesn't make sense to stay here anymore".
