There is a precedence for embedding x86 in music hardware. Roger Linn's original LM-1, LinnDrum and Linn 9000 (http://studiorepair.com/gallery/Linn/9000/index.html https://www.elektronauts.com/t/the-seminal-groovebox-linn-90...) were full 8088 PCs with custom cards. Successor MPC60 designed by Roger Linn for Akai was powered by Intel 80186. Final Linn's sampler, the legendary Akai MPC3000 is based on SOC form (NEC V53) of NEC V33, a 80186 compatible with microcode replaced by hardwired logic giving it clock for clock performance of 286 and immunity from Intel Microcode lawsuits.

It's coming to an end due to the proliferation of cheap ARM boards. I think the Korg Kronos is the last holdout using a standard x86 PC mainboard now.

Fascinating, thank you!

Owns a car manufacturer whose cars can be remotely controlled. Just imagine the potential.

The vehicle's dashboard flickered, and at once James heard Elon Musk's voice emanate from its speakers:

"Mr Bond, you are seated in a top of the line Tesla Cybertruck. I have plotted a course on its navigation system to my Optimus robot testing facility."

The vehicle's electrical engine silently sprang to life. James thrust his hand out to pull the door latch... but there was no door latch.

Musk's disembodied voice now chuckled a strange, halting laugh - like an adolescent boy with a cigar habit.

"There are no door handles in a Tesla car, Mr Bond! I have always found door handles so inelegant. Now pay attention: in a few minutes, the Cybertruck will arrive at its destination. We are currently training a team of Optimus robots to serve as ranch hands - they are handy with a bull whip"

Wait a minute, The Naked Gun (2025) already did this!

> ripped all the MV2 code out of chromium

The thing is this code is just scaffolding. You cant rip out actual functionality because its needed by other parts of the browser.

If you care about performance you use logs and then multiplications turn into integer additions.

On modern processors, floating point addition often has equal performance to floating point multiplication. For example, on AMD Zen4 it’s 3 cycles latency and 0.5 cycles throughput.

I’m not sure that trick going to work in the context of computer graphics. To transform vectors or multiply matrices you need a mix of multiplications and additions, or an equivalent sequence of FMAs.

Poland is in a deep judiciary crisis. Even slightly wealthy and/or connected people get off scot free in courts. People driving drunk, vehicular homicide, murderers set free or getting severely reduced sentences, etc.

People are pissed, Government is impotent and unable/unwilling to fix Judiciary, turns to performative laws instead. There is a joke in Poland "Terrible crime!! punishment 20 years prison or $10 fine".

This latest stupid law is the result of string of trashstreamers being exonerated by courts for no reason:

https://szczecin.tvp.pl/90330773/kamerzysta-wyrok-szczecinsk... Trash streamer humiliating mentally handicapped kid. Made him jump into septic tank, jump from first floor to a garbage container, eat from cat litter etc. Court didnt even have a hearing for the victim. Closed proceedings, secret verdict justification, full exoneration for the streamer. Total farce.

In one of the streams underaged participant was licking dogs genitalia or some sick shit like this. Incited to assault another streamer, raped his partner, and published underage pornography (naked pictures of 12y old). Full exoneration for the streamer. Total farce.

Am I crazy or are the "photos" generated? I did have T1800 and it never looked like this. It had a very early very bad grayscale LCD wiht fiddly contrast control, not a perfect crisp vibrant OLED like this page shows.

example how one looks like irl https://allegrolokalnie.pl/oferta/laptop-toshiba-t1800 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxIc_UVKxvc

All the photos are real, though it took me *lots* of time to get them somewhat right. The display on T1800 is indeed "challenging". What helped was:

- Letting it warm for a while

- Putting windows in the right places, because each one generates its own artifacts

- Setting background to dark with the white pattern

- Fiddling with the contrast knob and matching it with the right viewing angle

- Using 2x zoom

To be fair, the default photo app of iPhone 16 automatically reduced some of the artifacts. The only post-processing done myself in GIMP was very basic stuff like adjusting white balance, exposure and contrast.

Here you can see a few very quick-n-dirty photos I just took for comparison - https://imgur.com/a/6Xz6vc8

First photo is what I expected and remember. I still dont know how you managed to arrive at the third one, I call witchcraft! :)

Perhaps a new panel was retrofitted into it?

OLED panel? that would be a bigger hack than this OS :) Either all pictures are AI generated using QEMU templates that were there previously https://github.com/luke8086/gentleos32/commit/d40576226b7020... or those are real pictured beautified by AI. YT loves doing that to thumbnails, example https://hackaday.com/2026/06/03/hydraulic-drive-for-your-law...

The only AI-generated artifact is the cyberpunk wallpaper from the last photo, I'll admit that :)

Btw. the QEMU screenshots are still in the repo in https://github.com/luke8086/gentleos32/tree/main/doc/appimg
