lyude sounds like the type of person that goes insane the moment they get a whiff of power even if that power is something as unimportant as "FreeDesktop CoC board".

We went to Software Freedom to "develop the software the way we want you to".

Of course there is nothing wrong with not wanting to associate with specific people. Frankly for any reason. However Vaxry changed the rules of his community and follows the Freedesktop guidelines when he himself communicates with people at freedesktop.org

This is obviously impressive. Did you think from the beginning monolithic/module-based like linux was the way to go or did you consider making it a hybrid/micro kernel.

The monolithic/module thing was imposed by the subjects at my school (since it started as a school project).

However, a part of me is feeling like it could make sense to do a big refactor to turn all of this into a micro kernel. However I am not willing to do this until I have a plan to make it right.

By the way, the 32 bits thing too was imposed by the school. I am now wondering if it still relevant to support it and just support 64 bits only...

muscle is not body abuse. Being static is a bigger abuse.

I actually put my feet under the couch and do sit-ups.

If you are a big guy like me and can't do push ups, then you can do Knee push-ups or alternatively you can also stand between two walls at angle and push yourself away from the other wall. For heavier guys like me This is the equivalent of pushing about 20Kg. In general the higher the incline the less of your body weight you lift.

If you don't have any dumbbells at home you can also fill up multiple water bottles and put them in a rather strong bag(like the eco friendly ones you buy at the store). After all 1L of water is about 1Kg.

Don't forget, you must not rush the exercise. Slow make sure you keep a good form.

Also if this is your first day exercising. Don't do more than 5-10 minutes. You can increase the time you exercise the next time.

The way i look at it drew just surrounded himself with specific people over the years and then he is surprised to find out they are creeps.

> The hacker community has been the home I never had

That's sad man, you should get real friends.

I also don't understand what sexism/transphobia (which you hate) has to do with anything in relation to the article. As you said these people are(or rather were) clearly your friends.

You guys, this is why seriously have a policy of never listening to programmers in regards to politico-societal issues, I have the same policy for people I meet in anime/comic conventions. I don't want to say its because of autism or something because its not. It's because most of the "nerds" never had many friends growing up or have family issues. And no Internet friends are not real friends.

I guess what we all learned today is if you want to do something break it into its most simple components and do it.

I could use Wayland and deal with all the issues it has with hacky ways. Or, I could not use Wayland and continue working with things like team viewer and do my recordings and presentations with actually useful programs and industry standards.

Just because something is a 'niche' use case doesn't mean its not important. Yes the average programmer is just fine under Wayland. Every other niche case Linux has been working to accommodate all these years isn't because, even if slight, Wayland causes issues.

I am also even less inclined to use it again after these comments.

Don't compare your detractors to anti-vaxxers!

You know who doesn't care about your emotions and how you listen to your music?

Pirates.

No matter what legislation mega corps push, piracy will always be a competitor to them.
