I initially misread it as “Treat yourself to a chocolate”

I misread as "Teach yourself to e-chocolate" and was even more confused.

So the study shows that night owls and people with flexible sleep patterns might have a slight advantage in terms of cognitive performance implying that it’s not just how much sleep you get, but also when you prefer to sleep that matters for keeping your brain sharp.

In my opinion Hacker News isn’t strictly an IT community but a platform that focuses on technology, startup culture and entrepreneurship that allows followers with a mix of technical obsession, business ambition, and aspirational curiosity to discuss among themselves to have some sort of intellectual reasoning.I may be wrong.

Hackernews definitely has a political angle to it as well. It's hard to nail it down but the idea that HN is a totally free of groupthink is really dumb.

I think the link is startups and the closely related libertarianism which then spills into gun ownership

Only in US

Is libertarianism of any notable popularity in other countries?

Yandex had demonstrated their self-driving car technology in Las Vegas with just a safety engineer in the front passenger seat (NVO Mode) providing demonstration rides of its self-driving car on the public streets of Las Vegas starting from the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino during CES 2019.

I may be wrong but the reason why I guess it remains vaporware to the masses might have something to do with the regulatory and bureaucratic red tapes that ensures it continues to stay a vaporware.

Google showed a self-driving car taking a blind guy through a Taco Bell drive-through. Clearly ready for prime time, probably just a year off.

That video was released on March 28, 2012. Nine years ago in 48 days.

You'd think if it was just a little regulatory red tape a multi-billion dollar corporation or two (or three) would have figured it out in nine years. Maybe its more than just a few rules changes that's keeping truly full self driving carson some very select routes.

Perfect personification of “Ignorance (situational) is Bliss”

It's certainly funny after the fact but how could she, or anyone else, tell it was a military coup?

It looks like some military vehicles politely entering a government complex at a rather brisk pace. Maybe an official wanted a joyride in the latest troop carrier thingy?

It's not ignorance if there's no way you can tell something is up !

Certainly Jan 6th mayhem at the US capitol looked more like "a coup", and the rioters involved probably thought it was going their way for a couple of hours, yet in the end it was nothing but a humiliation for a bunch of angry hillbillies and conspiracy theorists. The military in Myanmar certainly knew where to go and what to do.

Perhaps the aerobics video is more like a picture of competence in staging a successful coup? :-)

well, imagine the military is with Trump, and says to the civilians: It's okay we'll take it from here and then a bunch of military vehicles show up to arrest all of congress who is against Trump. It's kinda like that a more "professional" coup.

It is concerning nevertheless

What this means is nose swabs aren’t catching every case !
