The real problem is that the same Visa quota is being used for both highly-skilled workers who _don't_ displace American workers (e.g. Silicon Valley or high-tech manufacturing), and "body-shopped" workers who are _intended_ to displace American workers (the example in this article, and the previous example of Disney).
If things are really so screwed up, and we need to recover the dreams of the past, why not "recurse on the idea of the computer", and invest in something like Pharo Smalltalk instead?
Yup, and it only makes it that much harder for Indian students who want to separate themselves from the herd and try to be honest hard-working individuals.
