Is there anything like a replacement? The three biggest tech sites that I traditionally love are ArsTechnica, AnandTech(rip), and Phoronix. One is dead man walking mode, the second is ded dead, and the last is still going strong.
I'm basically getting tech news from social media sites now and I don't like that.
In my wildest hopes for a positive future, I hope disenchanted engineers will see things like this as an opportunity to start our own companies founded on ideals of honesty, integrity, and putting people above profits.
I think there are enough of us who are hungry for this, both as creators and consumers. To make goods and services that are truly what people want.
Maybe the AI revolution will spark a backlash that will lead to a new economy with new values. Sustainable business which don't need to squeeze their customers for every last penny of revenue. Which are happy to reinvest their profits into their products and employees.
Don't forget that a lot of US mil stuff is launched by SpaceX so in a very real way they are the prime defense contractor in space for the country. If the public offering doesn't work, Unc Sam'll bail them out. Wonder if Trump will want a stake in the company this time.
Increased supply comes in majority black and/or low-income neighborhoods here and it's "luxury" units all the way down. Gentrification is the name of the game, while simultaneously reducing social services.
I don't even think that is the best defense because it takes a very passive acceptance to it. On the flip side, if someone steal my bike or assaults me in public, I'd like there to be some accountability which would otherwise never happen (and vice versa). In the past, if a white lady were to accuse a black man of some crime, then it was practically impossible to fight it. With CCTV, you can prove innocence and guilt a lot more conclusively.

I was accepted into a PhD CS program despite applying for a masters. The advisor had something on his door about the limited number of slots open for people who graduate from grad school. Tried to discourage me from the program.

Add in the crap tow range and it looks like Ford upmarket, as it's known to do, and failed. Just reading these points makes me think that it was designed to fail.
