I read somewhere around 5000 metres, double that of Air France 447. So if that is indeed the wreckage, it will take a while to recover the black boxes.
With reference to the Green Card Lottery [1] "if you lose in the lottery, they'll refund the fees", there are no fees to enter the lottery, however if you win the lottery there are fees to start the interview and visa process.
Indeed it's free to enter, just make sure you qualify in the case you win. The required qualifications are minimal but worth reading into it so you don't pay any money and not get the visas.
We went through it and it took about half a year for everything to be ready.
It was slightly more complex than that. Icesave was registered under the "passport" scheme, which meant that technically savers would have had to claim the first EUR 20,000 from the Bank's host country (Iceland in this case), with any top-up remainder being covered by the FSCS (up to I think around GBP 50 or 60k as you mentioned). Savers were fortunate in that the UK government stepped in and guranteed everything up to the limit.
(I too had an Icesave account at the time, it was a fearful couple weeks)
What's also important to remember is that only retail investors were bailed out. Council's and the like lost everything.
I (probably stupidly and naively but in the end luckily) didn't pay that close attention and just trusted that the FSCS would come through. I was in the fortunate position of not needing the cash in the short term though.
It may have been a £50K limit, the precise number wasn't an issue for me at the time as I wasn't near either figure.
Where do you stand on that know? Would you be willing to take a substantially lower interest rate in a UK based account over a foreign, more ambiguously guaranteed one?
Would probably still trust FSCS upto it's stated limits (although I would reread/print relevent bits from their website and might do research before investing in Icelandic, Greek, Cypriot and maybe even Italian banks to check there is no risk of devaluation and default that isn't covered.
Over the last few Google search algorithm updates, exact match domains (EMD's) were devalued. This could be one of the reasons why you are not ranking as highly for the term "pizza codes" while the previous domain was.
The deranking (and domain change coincidentally) were right around that time. Interestingly, I rank higher for 'pizza codes' now, and a lot lower for terms like 'papa johns coupons'.
If you're using Chrome there is a great addon called Youtube Options which achieves something similar to what Youtube Feathers is trying to do (it has video sizing options too!)
I certainly avoid the US for any connecting flights to Central and South America (I live in Europe). I've also been avoiding vacationing in the US since I experienced some rather rude TSA agents at Miami International a few years ago, although to be fair I have seen some of the US and wanted to expand my horizons.
