Yes they are stored on OpenAI's servers. The API calls are not used for model training per the TOS. However, not that I'm accusing OpenAI of anything, but there's no way to independently validate this.
But their guarantee is clear for the API (the ChatGPT web app is different, but you can disable training if you give up the history feature).

It’s in principle possible to detect if a model has been trained on private data, e.g. if it can recite random data such as UUIDs that are not public. So if OpenAI were to break that promise, someone would notice and make it public. This is enough of a disincentive that I trust OpenAI will not do it.
I clicked on this without seeing that it's on paulgraham.com, yet still picked up it was his writing within a minute of reading. His writing is distinct even for someone who hasn't read much of it.
It's a unique mix of true earnestness, over-generalisation, very short sentences of roughly similar length, some insights, and a preachy tone. and a 90s website design :)
150k salary, fully remote with a sweet equity deal as well.
10 years exp.
Was sought out for this startup because I'm active on social media and originally offered $125, but negotiated higher.
Idk how many hours, probably averaging 50/wk, but there will definitely be outlier weeks that I'm cool with.
I also had a really chill job two weeks ago for just under $100k. That was a gov job - strict 40 hr/wk. I don't like "average" lifestyles though, so even though I work more (and harder) now, I love it.
Then I also have side projects and another two companies that I have 50% ownership and 100% ownership of respectively. All together I usually end up working about 100 hours/wk
For me doing the exercise doesn't burn as many calories, but after I run, I want to eat healthier. If I've been sitting around all day, an ice cream cone sounds good.
If I was just reminded of how hard it is to burn 100 calories - it's not. So I think there's perhaps a subconscious nuance here.
I'm in a discord that is mostly people like this. Look at the guys around @nocodecarson on Twitter or ping him for the Discord link and tell him Jake Duth sent you.
(to be clear I'm not one of the node code guys, generally prefer full-code after running with Bubble, etc. for a few months)
