Cars without brakes should have even lower taxes ;)

No advance without a trade-off.

If only the ad quality went up with the efficiency with which they syphon the data. I don’t have a driver’s license and I’m in a relationship yet a considerable amount of personalised ads on my devices are about dating sites and car dealerships.

At 32 min she talks about a book called "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Microcomputers, but didn't know who to ask" by Slater. I found a reference on archive but nothing more, also nothing on the author.

Leland W. Slater, "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Microcomputers," Computop i cs . 3/82, pp. 38ff.

Not a book, but a paper. I found two citations, but I can't find either version.

Slater, L.W. (1982). Everything you ever wanted to know about microcomputers (but didn’t know WHO to ask). Navy Regional Data Automation Center Publ., Norfolk, Virginia, 19 pp.

Leland W. Slater, "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Microcomputers," Computopics, 3/82, pp. 38ff.

(Computopics appears to have been the magazine of the Washington DC chapter of the ACM.)

There seem to exist a copy at the University of Virginia, School of Nursing: https://nursing.virginia.edu/nursing-history/collections-cnh... So it may be possible to either ask them or go there and get a scan of it.

I have sent them a mail about it and will update somewhere if I hear back.

Update: I have heard back and should have a scan of it soon.

I got sent the scan which was very nice of them. The paper is pretty interesting and contains some good information from the time.

Machine learning is AI?

Yes for general population, at least the abstract doesn't mention AI

John Michael Godier released an interview with the scientist from Arecibo who’s at the root of this story, Prof. Abel Mendez:

We should coax them into using coax instead.

Or, we should ax that co. from supplying space missions.

I shall join you and will make it a co-axing.

If anyone has surplus bare PCBs for sale for the Cynthion please let me know.

I used to know one philosophy student in my student years and this was exactly the beaf I had with him at every single discussion. I believe this is part of the training, dissecting sentences.
