Imagine your opinions are in a basket that you carry with you. If you find a better opinion or way of thinking, switch it out. That way, you’re always improving yourself, and you’re able to have civil discussion about topics because you don’t get offended when somebody doesn’t like your opinion.

BBC's "Life" documentary is absolutely mind-blowing. The footage they managed to get is unbelievable. It's on Netflix and I could not recommend it enough.

If you start with the Socratic assumption that you are entirely ignorant and really don't know anything, you're much more likely to notice "new" unknowns.

As a semi-tangent, if you live your life without expectations you will never be surprised by your own ignorance.

Hate is a strong word but I found myself hating my hospital stay because I felt trapped, I was unable to do anything for five days but be in my room, watching shark week over and over again. All that time just for tests. Tests take up time and money and at one point I scared my family badly with a few results. I think it's a combination of worry, stress, being awoken up every few hours and just being unable to do normal things- like taking a dump without the need for other people to know!
