I feel very bad for the children and their relatives. What happened is really terrible.

I wish there was the same level of rigour and energy applied to investigating the 40,000 deaths in early January. There are countless videos online.

I simply don’t understand why 150 people receive so much attention while 40,000 don’t.

This saddens me because it feels like the focus is on who was responsible rather than who lost their lives.

Nobody in the western world cares about either group of dead civilians. They only pretend to care because they think it might benefit their preferred tribe of politicians.

Which makes me even more sad to be honest.

> I simply don’t understand why 150 people receive so much attention

It's called motherfucking *accountability*

You conveniently deleted the second part of that sentence.

Braindead dumbass take.

Accountability means everyone not just the ones we like, that's why we're still stuck in Epstein hell.

One of the assholes alluded to in killing people is dead.

The other is still alive.

Accountability.

How is this a useful comment?

Because it points out the obvious glaring issues with GP's post in a succinct manner.

Don’t worry. The Saudis and UAE will happily pay all costs of the war.

Iranian kids have been chanting death to Israel and death to USA for 47 years now. They’ve been waiting for this.

Well, if US takes down their democracy and downs their domestic passenger jets, fight a proxy war with chemical weapons through Saddam Hussein that alone kills 20~30 thousand, no country is going to respond to that with flowers in their hair.

In Iran's defence, in spite of being attacked repeatedly with chemical weapons, not once have they retaliated with chemical weapons. This is in line with their beliefs which was formalized into a fatwa by the late Khamenei against nuclear weapons.

I would call that taking a pretty principled stand at a time when it would have been very tempting to redefine them.

Have you ever been in Iran? Do you know any Iranians and have you talked to them recently?

Do you know what Khomeini did to his fellow leftist who toppled the Shah?

No. But many that I know have. They all had a lovely lovely time and to this day reminisce fondly about the hospitality they received from the people, from the officials.

As complete strangers they were invited into their homes to share dinner with family, with much post dinner merriment and singing and dancing. Note, my people were complete strangers to them, foreigners too. Some of my people were young men, they giggle and blush telling stories they were approached openly by women, no burqa in sight. These people still try to stay in occasional touch to this day.

Yes (many).

Yes. Also what US planted Shah's SAVAK did to his political opponents.

So what was your point again that you were presumably making, if any at all.

Ah I see. You took a random shot hoping it would stick and silence. Tsk tsk.

Maybe you are new here, those things don't work so well around here.

All Iranians reading this on HN, thank you for your generosity and hospitality. No one can top yours, seriously. Americans are generally friendly people, but Iranians really hit hospitality and show of heart out of the park.

Thank you.

Funnily enough, they are still a bit salty about the US and UK overthrowing their government in 1953, because that government started asking questions about how much oil the UK was stealing.

You'll be surprised to hear about what they have been chanting in the streets of Tel Aviv for decades. This cycle of violence can't be resolved by more violence. By starting this war for no reason, Israel and the US will only succeed in further radicalizing the Iranian people against them.

Ayatollah Khomeini admitted that he had lied about plans to make Iran democratic.

This practice is known as taqqiya. It’s ok to lie if you’re deceiving the enemy.

Did he also released a religious decree stating as much?

Because otherwise you're comparing apples to mushrooms. Not even themselves kingdom.

How would "flooding the zone" actually work in that case?

AFAIK the strategy is usually used to divert attention from one subject that could be harmful to a person to some other stuff.

Wouldn’t spamming in that case provide more information about you?

If in one post you say you’re Jewish, in the next you are Christian, in the next your Hindu, in the next youre Atheist it’s harder to know what your really are.

You could even mislead people if you know the difference between your and you‘re.

Is there a deployment of this tool so that I test it on myself?

EDIT: please someone build this, vibe-code it. Thanks

Any tool that can be used for yourself, can be used for others, which is why the researchers wouldn’t release the code/prompt.

That said, give it a few days and someone will have a proof of concept out.

We test different methods, in section 2, we use LLM agents to agentically identify people. We don't share any code here, but you could try with various freely available agents on yourself.

I'd be interested in testing this on myself also.

I get:

The uploader has not made this video available in your country

:( didn’t know that this was a thing

Neither did I, feel free to email me or message me on discord and I can try to download the video and send it to you.

I meant tbh, if they get better ie less boring, I’m all for it!

Is it fair to call it colonialism instead of occupation?

> Is it fair to call it colonialism instead of occupation?

EDIT: Nvm.

I was referring to the Arab conquest of Iran after 633.

It’s colonialism.

Edit: a modern example of it is the introduction of arabic language in Iranian schools after the revolution because arabic is the language of the Quran. A similar thing is done by China w.r.t. uighurs, which are not allowed to teach their language, and culture in schools, it has to be only Mandarin. Or, in Turkey, where by constitution it is prohibited to use any non-Turkish language as a language of instruction in schools.

So yeah.

That isn’t colonialism or occupation, it’s straight up annexation. Romulus didn’t colonize Remus’s hills, they joined them into the whole as intended (and eventual) equals.
