I think tons of HN tech people are into LEGO. After they gathered 10,000 votes and still declined to do a JWST telescope TWICE, I personally decided to have some fun with it on my own.

Plan to Kickstart it early next year...

Yeah - technical people in general - it was a great introduction to following instructions and creativity all-in-one. (I would build every kit first with the instructions, then tear them apart and put the bricks in the "big" (actually very tiny) box, and from then on, build my own creations - no models sitting on shelves for me - this still happens to-this-day, but now I build with my grandkids)

I'm working on aggregator editing software for the site I recently launched. This is a LAMP stack. If someone wants a source code, please contact me via email.

https://www.trumpsdaily.com/

Thank you. I don't think the site needs RSS feed itself as its just 100% of other sites' content, but its fun and challenge to go through so much material updated daily and pickup real news versus fake, propaganda and obvious lies.

I would appreciate sharing the site with your friends or family - addThis app is built into the bottom of the right column.

Are you scraping these headlines? Talk a bit on the development. I wanted to make something similar for a science based subject and I was simply going to use rss.

Sure.

From Dev site its a simple LAMP stack with CodeIgniter simply because its pleasure to work with and its just fun. If the site would ever get serious traffic I would simply plug Cloudflare and wouldn't worry about optimizing my simple PHP code.

In terms of articles, I'm using inoreader.com with feeds related to News, both US + World. Inoreader lets me download articles via JSON, then I search through them and decide which one to publish. Sometimes I alter headlines, but not to drive an agenda, but rather to feed the narrative, like if first article is about Trump, second one doesn't need to have his name in the title anymore; you can simply follow without mentioning his name.

Example re: National Archives:

- National Archives exhibit blurs images critical of President Trump...

- Forced to apologize for blurring anti-Trump rally signs...

So second article doesn't need the National Archives being mentioned.

Here is a simple admin panel screenshot: https://ibb.co/yPQ0XZz

What I like about the aspect of a site like this, and especially the process of curation (I believe Drudge does the same), has to do with the headline writing. This has got to be one of the better practices of becoming a better headline writer I've seen other than actually writing professional ads.

For copywriters, this practice is invaluable.

Thank you. I plan to moderate it for now myself. Obvious question everyone asking when I show friends/family: are you Trump's friend or a foe. Its exactly reason why I build the site, because these days every news site/agency seems to have an agenda pro- or against-.

When I review the feed for the news I do not ask myself a question if this piece will put Trump Admin in good or bad light. If the news seems newsworthy and source is somewhat reliable and article does a decent job explaining itself, then I post it.

FYI: DrudgeReport design stand the test of time as the site is almost 20 years old without much changes. I am surprised how little similar sites are there to aggregate news in simple one-page style. I am thinking of open sourcing the code altogether with admin panel so that others can build their own sites, be it gossips report or even technology aggregator news site. We do have HN of course but the form is somewhat different.

Let me know how I can make the site even better.

Shameless plug - I built MyTube.FM few months ago as an attempt to give alternative platform for those who prefer to voice rather than write.

I am curating few profiles myself; for example: https://potus.mytube.fm/

Dear HN,

I built MyTube.FM with very simple CodeIgniter MVP + MySQL, as a fun after-hours project.

The biggest challenge was getting audio recording to work on as many devices as possible, but I am sure not all have been worked out :|

The main idea is that I would like to have some sort of Twitter that would be more genuine than what Twitter is right now. I also think that making people force to use their voice not only brings more emotions into discussion but also helps combat trolls as it takes much more time and energy to record your voice, rather than type a message.

This is very new project and I currently only cultivate handful of profiles myself in hopes of bringing traffic; for example POTUS profile: https://potus.mytube.fm/

I did the project myself and would welcome all ideas how to take it off the ground (I am programmer not a marketing whiz unfortunately), so please feel free to reach out! Perhaps thanks to HN, I could find a founding partner?
