A bit of a story:

It's all start with my technical/programming blog where I need some tool for making step-by-step explanation (like slides) that I can easily embed to explain concepts on my website.

(and as you can guess, I'm a big fans of Excalidraw and Keynote so I hack things together and made a tool called Inscribed [1])

As I later expanded into video, I decided to fork the project and create another tool which focus solely on making animation which now become StoryMotion.

How to use: 1. Sketch anything with Excalidraw canvas 2. Select an elements and assign effects, adjust the timing. 3. Export as mp4, webm, GIF (or you can embed it as an iframe on your blog posts or documentation.)

Note: We also also launch "AI Agent" feature which help speed up visual creation and "Magic Animate" feature which automatically choose and assign motion effect for the visual elements on the editor canvas.

I'm working on https://storymotion.video/

a tool for creating hand-drawn animated diagrams for educational creators or technical writer.

- You can export it as video (4k, 60fps) - Do some presentation. - or embed as iframe on to the blog posts or technical docs.

It's combined the experiences of Keynote and Excalidraw, both software I was enjoy using!

Wow, I always wanted such tool!

What is your technical stack? Do you build editor from scratch or do you use something as a baseline ?

could you share what's the use cases?

it make it possible to do a lot of interesting things, from version control to automation to antigenic workflows to dynamic tutorials or something.

Thanks!

no licensing issues. Excalidraw is published under MIT license. if my project keeps developing, we can contribute some parts back to Excalidraw. this is a win-win.

you're welcome

could you share the use case or elaborate more? (if you want to embed the content there you can edit on the web and export as iframe)
