The same people who told you Google was going to zero three years ago because Search would become irrelevant are now telling you users will move away from Google because it’s removing Search.
When will people learn that the quality of Google’s leadership is better than that of the average Joe on Hacker News or a random tech journalist writing clickbait articles?
Looks like you're making the common mistake of counting all people you disagree with as the same person. In this case they're clearly different - AI proponents and AI skeptics respectively.
I'm calling out the "tech opinionist community" broadly speaking. I don't know if it's the same exact people but it's often the same forums or news outlets.
Yea that sounds like different people. Even news sites can have contradictory opinions and narratives - they should otherwise they're just biased. But it doesn't make it the same people.
I don't really want something owned by a company for my local stuff. I'd prefer it be small and minimalistic. Maybe in the future I'll change my mind and it will be more like a browser but for now I wanna keep it small and local.
Thanks! I don't think that the only advantages are being open and lightweight, but you can actually find some more interesting features such as Ollama support, integrated Prompts (in order to compete with superpowers), git worktrees integration, and so on
I think it's pretty obvious from their financial results that this company is a commercial failure, and the subset of people who consume their product on a regular basis is vanishingly small.
Do some people occasionally eat fake meat? Sure. Enough to build a sustainable business? Less clear.
Arch Wiki can't never cover a userland+kernel documentation by design. FreeBSD does. Arch it's utterly lacking in tons of areas. Forget proper sysctl documentation. Say goodbye to tons of device settings' documentation. Forget iptables/NFT's documentatiton on par of PF.
I don't think we should actively stop people from discussing what's on their minds.
Every person has their own lived experiences, I think it should be common courtesy to at least give someone who puts in the effort into writing a, respectful non ai generated, comment a fair shot and being read.
instead of cursing and attacking, you can have actual discussions. most of the comments in this thread are hating towards trump and his policies without actually discussing any of the policies. Maybe you can't even read the comments. Just blank statements and making fun of trump and his policies. If u have any counters to them u will get flagged and downvoted to hell. Just like your comment, HN has gone from an actual intellectual discussions, to Bluesky style hatred and making fun. Good job proving my point.
