This is nice, but I'm confused about one thing: how can instance owners ensure illegal content such as CSAM doesn't get cached on their servers if defederation is not a thing?

My understanding is that a PDS instance only hosts data for it's users.

Caching can happen at Relays or AppViews and those will presumably need to do something to avoid caching CSAM.

mpv is cross-platform.

Their help page technically says you can use the same phone number on up to 10 accounts, but that hasn't been the case in 4–5 years or more. It's more like 2–4 accounts per number allowed in my experience, and there is a few week cooldown on reusing a number even if you've already removed it from all accounts.

I don't think you can use the same email on multiple accounts at the same time, but using address extensions or creating new emails is easy.

You can use AdGuard to block ads in Safari.

I suppose it does raise the bar somewhat, but there are many websites that sell access to phone numbers that specifically work on major services like Google for as low as 10 cents per text.

yeah, they avoid any gplv3 software on macos, not sure if ios has any that's even gplv2.

it's unix (bsd), not linux.

also, the minimum is actually 4 digits. you can tap "passcode options" when setting/changing passcode. not sure how much better that would be though. i generally like face id but i do hope they add in-display touch id sometime.

I knew about `:x`, but I had no idea there was an actual distinction beyond just being a shortcut for `:wq`.

It's common for them to not include more than original and/or English audio, but most competent groups will generally include all available subtitles at least.
