Very very few LNG cars and trucks out there, as filling infrastructure is limited compared to CNG. In US it's something like 2% of total CNG+LNG fleet.

Interviewed with a midwestern company doing CNG truck conversions and building fueling infrastructure back in 2014/15. Diesel prices coming down crushed them, and they sold off the majority of their fueling station biz in 2019, to focus on renewable CNG from dairy & hog farms.

I was confusing it with LPG. The huge majority of buses and taxis around here run on it, which is a big percentage of traffic on the road. A decade ago it was 100%, now most new replacements are electric but it will take at least another decade until the existing LPG fleets are entirely replaced.

The CWC does not treat tear gas as a banned chemical weapon, instead classifying it as a riot control agent (RCA). Article II(7) defines RCA as “[a]ny chemical … which can produce rapidly in humans sensory irritation or disabling physical effects which disappear within a short time … .” CWC Article I(5) prohibits using RCA “as a method of warfare,” but does not define the term method of warfare, leading to a potential exception or “loophole.”

Pedanticisim aside, the .mil requires risk assessments up the wazoo for every training event, let alone using CS/OC, and they should have expected this. Hope it deploys and dissipates for 60 year old anything is a bad gamble in the desert, let alone a built up occupied urban area.

Not the only suit, been an issue for a while: https://emilykramer.medium.com/equity-for-all-1ae9ac42679e

Two options as I see it: Partner w/ a co like AdaFruit or another kit developer & push content via youtube/tock etc.

Alternatively work w/ a fab co like https://www.tempoautomation.com/ to produce small batches, and send them to a 3PL co to package and fufil for you.

I think partnering with those who are already selling electronics kits like you say, Perhaps finding some interested folks on Tindie might be the direction to go. Are there any other Tindie type websites?

Thanks for the information on the fab, Although not immediately useful for my problem it will add value to my curated list of startup tools[1] for anyone looking to manufacturer small quantity of boards.

Oh man, this reminds me of a story - GE Profile oven in a ski condo, last day or second to last day we were there.

Broke in a way that you couldn't open the door - and we couldn't get the bacon out. Wound up reading the repair manual and a forum while the GF cooked eggs, trying to figure it out.

The Solenoid that is used to lock the door when it goes through a clean cycle has to be powered on 100% of the time, and keeps its spring compressed. Power turns off to lock it. If the insulator/bushing for it breaks, it will jam open & lock the door. Family will never buy GE appliances after this happened. Mom just bought a new Kitchenaid that's got exactly 0 smart features.

Staying in an AirBnB, desperate for a cup of tea, no kettle and only an induction hob. Somehow manage to bork the hob trying to switch it on such that it is just showing an error code (E06 or some such). Much futile googling for said error code, and still no tea at the end of it. Utter madness.

Sure it wasn't detecting that the pot on top wasn't magnetic and wouldn't heat up? My little portable induction burner is smart enough to detect if the pot won't work and warns you/fails to start.

I had to google what a "hob" is, never heard that word. Very funny sounding!

Did you not have an electric kettle? I don't know anyone younger than 80 who uses a stovetop kettle.

>still no tea at the end of it

Oh, that's easy. Just drop the "no tea" and you will have tea.

If you prefer to have tea and no tea at the same time, just remove your common sense.

The worst part of this stuff is you never find out about it until long after the purchase is over. Unless you happen to know a brand that’s good (say Speed Queen for now) you are stuck trying to guess what issues may occur someday.

> Speed Queen

The only vendor who still sells a washer without lid lock... I'm looking at getting their TC5 to replace this piece of shit maytag that doesnt fill up properly.

I have to admire the absolute ingeniousness to make it only on the high end one heh.

I suspect you could just buy the parts - they’re all very similar internally even sharing parts with the commercial models.

That's hilarious. It was an engineer trying to be fake safe. Losing control over your device is going to be less safe than just letting the user open the door during a clean cycle if the power drops.

Journalists who's "reporting" actively endangered his life as he was in Saudi at the time. Where its still the death penalty for being gay.

It's more of a death penalty for engaging in homosexual acts. As long as he stays out of Saudi embassies he should be fine, for whatever level of "actively courting investment from the people who would supposedly kill him that kill critics and imprison women for driving" is fine.

Lets not be precious. He wasn't worried for his safety, he was worried they would pull their investment.

He was worried he'd be discriminated against for being gay? Point stands.

Where is all the concern involving the fact that Peter Thiel was investing in a regime where there is a death penalty for being gay in the first place, why does that get a pass and all the concern falls on his supposed personal safety.

This argument isn't about the fact that Saudi Arabia is ridiculously oppressive to gay people, it is about scoring points to make Peter Thiel look better.

> Where is all the concern involving the fact that Peter Thiel was investing in a regime where there is a death penalty for being gay in the first place, why does that get a pass and all the concern falls on his supposed personal safety.

I don't believe gay people should be excluded from economic opportunity based on their sexuality or concerns for their sexuality, nor do they forfeit their right to safety or privacy. I don't personally think western countries or people should invest in or have close ties with Saudi, but I don't think those who do are automatically bad or wrong.

> This argument isn't about the fact that Saudi Arabia is ridiculously oppressive to gay people, it is about scoring points to make Peter Thiel look better.

Taking down bullies who oust gay people makes him look fine to me.

Nobody is talking about excluding Thiel from investing in Saudi Arabia, or forfeiting his right to safety or privacy.

What is being questioned here is the narrative that Gawker put him in any kind of serious risk wrt Saudi Arabia, or that his actions against Gawker were taken in defense of gay people's privacy.

He obviously doesn't care much about the rights of gay people, or have many personal safety concerns if he's investing massive amounts into one of the most gay-oppressive regimes on earth, yet he gets a full pass here from you, and Gawker deserved to be destroyed as a company.

Why?

I assure you Saudi Arabia is a much bigger "bully" to gay people than Gawker ever was, yet Thiel has no problem enabling it, and you apparently have no problem with him doing so either.

Its a ridiculous double standard.

> Nobody is talking about excluding Thiel from investing in Saudi Arabia, or forfeiting his right to safety or privacy.

They were. They said he was worried that his investments would be discriminated against if it was found out that he was gay.

Deplorable really. Trying to make out like the bullying journalists from that two bit gossip rag were fine to oust him as gay because he is greedy or rich or something. Doesn't make it okay.

> I assure you Saudi Arabia is a much bigger "bully" to gay people than Gawker ever was, yet Thiel has no problem enabling it, and you apparently have no problem with him doing so either.

I have no problem with gay people investing in what they choose to and not being discriminated against due to their sexuality. Sounds like you do.

I’m not a fan of Thiel at all, but the “offensive” article in Gawker actually made me empathize with him. It’s the most flattering thing written about him, and it made me briefly consider him to be human. Those feelings were short-lived.

Oh please.. such laws don't matter if you're rich..

Just did this with my 10, $74.95 for a new battery, spent ~2 hours down the street curating a newsletter at a bar I like. It was a similar experience when I needed the battery in my MacBook Air replaced but closer to 100.

Also usually gets you plenty of Safeway Rewards @ Chevron.
