My main peeve with the Apple TV (device) is that the home button keeps sending me into Apple TV (App) instead of to the main screen.

I have to click it twice to get back to the home screen.

As is also commented, within the device settings you change the behaviour to be a home button.

You should also be able to hold the ‘menu’ or ‘<‘ button, depending on which remote you have, to directly go to the home page

Just dig into the menu, that's an option if I remember well.

> What’s the point in having smart TV without internet access?

The difficulty in finding an affordable TV without smart functionality alone means that you're most likely buying a smart TV.

I yet again bought a Samsung smart tv (despite having sworn never to do so again..) and I'm never letting it connect to the internet after what happened to the last one.

> Very easy to spoof the MAC of the TV or setup some SNI spoofing proxy server

At that point you're in the 0.1% that the hotel does not really need to worry about. The other >99% will still need to pay for wifi.

it’s probably >0.1% here …

> What about not sharing at all?

I had windows defender want to upload a certificate to microsoft.

Default behavior is to silently always allow uploading "suspicious files"

I tried this on iPhone 17 (regular), the phone became more or less unusable. ~500-2000ms lag when changing or closing an application.

The liquidglass experience was bad, but reduce motion was unusable.

There are people who don't own credit cards, and the app stores rarely offers any other "cash like" alternative other than gift cards.

> It's always annoyed me that zooming in on a building will not reliably show the business that operates there.

It's actually much worse than that.

I will often see the business name as I'm zooming in, but if I zoom too far, it's no longer available. You have to find "just the right zoom level" for displaying the given business.

As if it were some weird mind game they were playing with you.

> Words mean things. "Perfectly lawful" means just that? And so, I was curious.

He did prefix it with "I think", highlighting that "this is my opinion / my interpretation", not that he is issuing a ruling as a judge in an international court.

I read "I think" for "brilliant operation".

You can make harddrives to A: and B: just fine.

This will generally work with everything using the Win32 C api.

You will however run into weird issues when using .Net, with sudden invalid paths etc.
