make no sense since Rapidus 2nm process is from IBM.

idk which shocking, Japanese company try to steal TSMC or IBM have 2nm process out of nowhere

IBM has kept researching in Albany. They license manufacturing technology to other parties even if they gave up trying to build their own fabrication facilities a decade ago.

"Out of nowhere" would be a stretch. IBM may not have mass-market volume anymore but they kept up the production chain to build mainframes (and I would guess other "specialty" products) for institutional customers.

IBM has been publicly working toward 2nm since at least 2021, though, so it doesn't seem like it's coming from nowhere. Unless this is a completely different 2nm development, here's a presser about it from 2021, titled "Introducing the world's first 2 nm node chip" (https://research.ibm.com/blog/2-nm-chip)

What’s going on big guy? Maybe take a break from commenting

I thought HN commenter would be smart people, turns out they just good at Tech and sucks at everything else

> since Rapidus 2nm process is from IBM

Unless it has great yields with 0 issues, there's always things to learn from. It's also possible the IBM process isn't what it seems and there's more to it.

We can make hypersonic missiles.

I still want to get a look at China's. Right down to the metallurgy.

The advisory was for the lock being disengaged meaning you would still need to manually move it. it wasn't for being moved by factors such as vibrations also If it was from vibration how would a crash impact not move them back to cut off?

I had a section in class back in highschool and we were told you should never base you opinions on titles instead you should read the content then come to a conclusion. seeing so many > "anyone can RSVP, regardless of whether they have an Apple Account or Apple device." in the comments proves the problems still exists today.

Google Matte. chrome is out of fashion now.

A brilliant idea some startup accelerator in the EU can create a platform that conforms to EU laws. It can't be that hard, given that the UI hasn't changed much in a decade or more. I can already see it "Hacker news, but hosted in the EU with Swiss privacy and is GDPR compliant".

We now have the three tech giants moving in on nuclear. I think we will have a race to see which SMR provider comes online first even though Nuscale canceled its pilot plant, sending shockwaves through the industry last year, there's a clear demand now. I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft signs with an SMR provider in the coming weeks because the other players have. I would have said it would be Nuscale, but Sam Altman might move them to Oklo.

a better bank would have been Wells Fargo. Chase and JPM are not in the same category they are profit machines with great balance sheets. that's why they swooped in last year during the bank crisis and took over some banks.

Wells Fargo is a better example of criminal vs negligent. Has Boeing verged into criminal? It's not like they were continuously bilking the gov't for all of this, which to me keeps them out of criminal. but of course, IANAL

Yeah, I'm mostly referring to Chase's relationship with the Fed, FDIC, and regulators - they're clearly the bank of choice for rescuing distressed banks, and they're the largest bank in the country by a pretty substantial margin.

You're right about the difference, though - they're stable, well-run, and with a solid balance sheet, and it's clear the tradeoff for being effectively the Bank of the US is they're regulated and stress-tested six ways to Sunday.

If that were the model being applied to Boeing, this'd be a different story, but I think there's been a clear decision made that Chase is critical infrastructure and should be treated & audited like it that hasn't been made about Boeing yet.

Boeing will probably sue the manufacturer of the failed RCS thrusters in the next year.

Possible. Depends how the contract is structured, they may be able to claw back some money from Aerojet.

Boeing still takes all the blame.

it's crazy that Intel can't manufacture its own chips atm, but it looks like that might change in the coming years as new fabs come online.

1835 tflops fp8. you have to look for it, but they posted it. The link in the op is just an announcement. the white paper has more info. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/content-details/8174...
